Cleve Hill Solar Park is a solar and energy storage park situated on the North Kent Coast. The client required an effective approach to managing standing water following rainfall and panel cleaning while not impacting the environment.
The primary challenge involved implementing robust drainage solutions to manage excess water resulting from weekly solar panel maintenance and heavy rainfall. Persistent standing water and ditches across the site hindered access along internal roadways, necessitating the installation of culverts to ensure reliable vehicle movement. Additionally, it was essential to stabilise and protect the embankments adjacent to watercourses and drainage channels. With the sensitive environmental setting and long-term durability requirements.
SoluForm Above Water concrete bagwork was selected as the optimal solution for embankment reinforcement and culvert works, combining technical dependability with environmental consideration to address the project’s specific demands. The use of pre-filled concrete bagwork, with a soluble liner facilitated efficient installation with minimal site disturbance, safeguarding both the watercourses and broader site environment while achieving project performance and sustainability targets. This approach consistently delivers robust control of water flow and structural stability, fully supporting long-term protection strategies for drainage channels and embankments.
The works involved reinforcing approximately 30 culverts and their associated embankments using SoluForm Above Water concrete bagwork, ensuring durable structural support and sustained erosion protection as part of the site’s ongoing infrastructure development.
