What was the challenge?

To manage the installation and construct a robust culvert headwall, it was imperative to dewater the existing site prior to installation. This step was essential for the installation of the above-water concrete bags. Our innovative lined bagwork, made from natural, renewable, and sustainable materials, eliminates the need for specialised equipment or pumps, unlike grout bags. This versatile system enabled site personnel to adapt to design modifications, install efficiently, or overcome unexpected challenges.

The prefilled concrete bags were placed around the base of the pipework as a foundation and then built up to create a culvert headwall at either end of the pipework. The provide a crucial element in providing the necessary structural support to ensure the foundation's stability and durability.

What was the solution?

SoluForm’s concrete bagwork was employed to construct a durable culvert headwall, ensuring the stability of the project's heavy-duty crossing.

Each bag, weighing 20kg, is manageable by a single person and can be easily transported to the installation site. The U-shaped galvanised 8mm pins, specifically designed for use between the rows of bagwork, enhanced the installation's durability by providing additional stability. This facilitated a rapid and efficient installation process.

What was the outcome for the client?

The ultimate aim for the client was to complete the development creating a permanent and stable solution, which was effectively achieved through the implementation of the prefilled concrete bagwork.
