Collapsed Bank Repair

SoluForm were approached by a Commercial diving contractor who were responsible for the repair of a collapsed bank at the back of a private home.

What was the challenge?

After years of heavy rainfall and the continuous scour of a fast-moving flow, erosion had caused a bricked bank to collapse, leaving the ground exposed to further erosion.

The stream and the collapsed bank area were situated at the back of a private home and the increasing levels of rainfall created further erosion of the collapsed bank, which had begun to create significant damage to a householders garden.

The fast-paced stream needed to be diverted so the collapsed wall and fallen debris could be removed and a solution provided that would offer much needed support and protection against further erosion.

What was the solution?

SoluForm’s above water 32N bagwork with water soluble liners offered the perfect solution to rebuild structure around the exposed bank as well as offer protection against future erosion.

Our bags only weigh 20kg each, so they can be handled by a single person, and easily relocated to the project worksite for installation.

The area was first drained and the water diverted with a hose as you can see from the below pictures. This meant that the fallen brick wall could then be cleared as well as all the loose debris which had gathered. SoluForm's above water bagwork was then installed supporting the soil bank and the remaining wall.

What was the outcome for the client?

A temporary diversion could be used to clear the water allowing for a clearer area to install the bagwork.

With galvanised rebar pins inserted vertically through the bagwork to connect them together, it created a single durable structure ensuring the area immediately became more stable.
